Harvesting for shared lunch
Room 9' s job for the shared lunch was to harvest and cook the kale. We picked lots of kale leaves, washed them carefully, and then everyone had a turn at taking the stalks out and tearing the leaves into small pieces. Then we put the kale on trays with oil and baked them in the oven - kale chips - yum!

Harvesting
We are very excited about our shared lunch today. We harvested our beans this morning just before it started to rain. Lucky us! There were heaps and heaps of beans in the vege beds. Mmm!! It's going to be a yummy shared lunch. Can't wait!!

Trip to Ambury Farm
As part of our inquiry into sustainable communities we visited Ambury Farm to learn about where our food comes from.
In this photo we saw the cows being milked and learnt that there is cream in the milk.
In this photo we made butter by shaking the cream in ajar with a marble lots of times and then we ate the butter on bread! It was delicious!

Yummy potatoes!!
Thank you Rooms 27 and 11.
Room 8 really enjoyed the yummy roasted and boiled potatoes and the kale chips. We finished EVERYTHING on the plate.
Yum, yum!!
Kale Chips!!
Look at us enjoying our kale chips! We made them with some children from Room 27. First we harvested the kale. Then we broke the kale into bite sized pieces. We sprinkled olive oil and himalayan sea salt over them and baked them in the oven at 150 degrees for 15 minutes. They were so delicious Mrs Millar had to make more for all the Year 2s to share the next day!! Yum yum.
